Ep35 To Gibraltar

We slip the lines in La Linea and got ourselves tucked up in the Marina Bay Marina in Gibraltar. It is a great marina with good facilities and helpful staff.
We treated it a bit like a holiday because once in Gibraltar we were no longer taking time out of our Schengen clock which meant that we could relax a bit and stop checking the weather for a window to race to our next destination.
Bethany also had her Birthday while we were in Gibraltar so it made sorting things out for that a lot easier. Bethany’s Birthday started with a treasure hunt that Claire had managed to make last quite a long time, despite living on such a small boat. After the treasure hunt it was Bethany’s idea to go to the outside pool for the day. This is an outside pool in the harbour, basically a big sieve in the sea, it was great and we spent the rest of the day there.
Bethany had been banging on about getting her ears pierced for the second time for ages, so Paul off Halekai just happened to be a qualified ear piercer and tattoo artist. He also had the pleasure of hearing her requests, so He kindly said he would do them if she wanted. so that was that she got them done. Then to finish the day off it was to the Irish bar for a meal and of course a cake with candles.
We spent the next days walking around Gibraltar, then it was time to get fuelled up, untie the lines and head for the Spanish south coast. We will always have a piece of Gibraltar in our hearts, it is a beautiful place and we were all a bit sad to be leaving, we will remember our time here forever.
