Ep29 To Sines To Sagres

After a restless night sleep we head down the coast in thick fog towards Sines. On our way we came across a pod of Dolphins that were moving slowly through the water, at first glance we thought they were what we feared- Orcas. Within this area they have been known to attack boats like ours damaging their rudders and leaving the boat unable to move and the crew traumatised. luckily for us it was friendly Dolphins.
As we got nearer to Sines the fog dispersed even more and seeing the brake water stretching out in to the sea was a welcoming sight. Before we anchored we went into the marina to fill up with fuel, ready for the next leg.
Once anchored we were treated to a variety of different music, it sounded like they were warming up for a festival that was to take place in the next day of two. It was nice but we were glad when it stopped at 10ish because we needed some much needed sleep.
The next day we were up early for the last day on the west coast of Portugal, it started the same as yesterday ended with fog and another suspected Orca sighting by a boat that was just behind us. This happened moments after we thought we had seen a pod. The after effects were that everyone including us made a 90 degree turn to port, straight for shallow water, which is meant to stop the Orca attack on the boats, as they don’t like shallow water.
As we get closer to Sagres the sun comes out which makes everything seem that bit better. With the west coast of Portugal slipping by we get the time to marvel at the spectacular cliffs. Once on the south west tip of Portugal the wind picks up and pushes us straight into the anchorage for a very windy night.
Thanks for watching from the crew of Rhumor
