Ep27 To Cascais

We left Nazare on a dark overcast but warm morning, with the wind set to be somewhere else today we motored out of the marina towards the brake waters.
Almost as soon as we got out of the marina we knew it was going to be a bumpy ride, the swell from a storm far out in the Atlantic had hit the coast, building waves that were slamming in to the brake waters each side of the entrance. We made the best of a bad situation with the recent news of problems with orcas and headed for deeper water. It was a balance between being too close to the shore, being hit with waves or being too deep and risking an orca attack.
As the sun came up we all breathed a breath of relief. The coast here is imposing sat on Rhumor, watching the Atlantic rollers smashing them self to bits on the rocks, it was an awesome show of natures rough power.
The rollers stayed with us all day and we only got a rest from them when we dropped the anchor in Cascais anchorage. This for us was just an overnight stop but the place looked lovely and we all wished we could have gone ashore to explore. maybe next time.
Thanks for watching from the crew of Rhumor.
