Ep25 Figueria De Foz

We leave early in the morning from Povoa de Varzim. with a weather window just long enough to get us down to Figueria de Foz, which is about 13 hours down the coast. The trip starts with Claire watching out from the bow for fishing buoys which are one of our dangers when traveling at night as they can get caught around the prop and they will stop the engine. With the sun coming up Claire could take a well deserved rest. As we got closer to the marina the wind started to pick up, lifting the waves a little. Once in the marina we went straight to the fuelling pontoon which was ok to get too but the price a bit hefty. After fuelling up and getting to our berth we were straight in to the town for a look about. It is a nice place with plenty to do. Claire managed to sniff out a lidl, so the next day we were of to get some essentials. On the way back to the boat the trolley that has been suffering for a little while finally gave up, which left us with two choices: number one leave the trolley and the food and walk back to the boat which was my choice, or drag the trolley up and down hills for the next mile and a half in thirty degrees plus of heat. while the kids run back and forth telling me how the rubber is getting torn off the wheels. As you will see we go for the latter. While in the marina we get talking to our neighbours and find out that they spoke first hand to a boat that had been attacked by orcas two days earlier, there boat had suffered rudder damage from the attack. We had been hearing about this attack a lot more over the last weeks and they were more in our area so after a chat over a tea we decided that we are going to sail only by day and keep a good eye out for any pods around us.
Thanks for watching from the crew of Rhumor.
