We thought siding would be straightforward… but this day turned into one problem after another.
Between running out of materials, fixing missed waterproofing details, working off pump jacks for the first time, and dealing with tricky installs around windows, HVAC line sets, and trim—this was one of those days where nothing is hard individually… but everything adds up.
We’re continuing siding on our small home in the mountains of North Carolina, trying to keep up with a professional crew while learning in real time. From installing window trim and soffits, to laying out a frieze board, snapping lines, and dialing in board-and-batten alignment—this is what the process actually looks like when you’re figuring it out as you go.
Not every day is huge progress… but every day matters if we want to finish this house.
Let’s get to work.
Huge thanks to the crew who helped make this happen — links to everyone involved below.
