Our family is done - Giving up on our dream to sail around the world. MANY factors and MANY months have contributed to this difficult decision. We always said that Australia was our "bail out" point in our sailing journey, so if we had had enough, we would put the boat up for sale there. Being in New Zealand these past 5 months this thought has come to the forefront. Multiple factors have played a role in this decision - Shannon's migraines and seasickness, her missing our older children & family in the US, the difficulty home schooling Davis with ADHD, the increase in Star link fees with decreased internet access, Robs stress about the boat and keeping us safe, and the state of the World and its relations to the US all contribute. We DID NOT take this decision lightly and honestly never planned to air this content but in keeping with being honest and showing you the good and bad of boat life we feel this is part of our story.
We are a suburban blended family that has raised our 3 older children and now want to travel the world. After planning and saving for the past 6 years, we are now embracing our dream of sailing the world on our Leopard 45 sailing catamaran. Follow our journey as we Circumnavigate the Globe in 3-4 years on a budget of $4,800/month (food, communication, fuel, insurance, transportation, mooring/marina & fun). We left the USA in October 2023 and plan to visit 26 countries on 5 different continents all while boat schooling a budding teen.
