Welcome aboard sailing enthusiasts! In this episode, we take you on an unforgettable voyage to the most famous shipwreck in the Mediterranean, Navagio. Join Ross, Laura, Joshua, and Noah as they document their thrilling adventure sailing around the picturesque Greek Islands.
Unraveling the Mystery of Navagio
Located on the northwest corner of Zakynthos Island, Navagio, also known as Shipwreck Beach, is a breathtaking location that can only be accessed by boat. Legend has it that on October 2nd, 1980, the coaster MV Pantelis ran aground near Zakinthos Island and was brought to rest at Navagio beach during stormy weather. Regardless of its mysterious origin, this iconic shipwreck is undeniably a stunning sight.
A Memorable Sunrise Visit
As we approached the bay at sunrise, the surrounding cliffs were highlighted by shadows and early morning light. The contrast between the towering limestone formations and the cerulean sea created a truly breathtaking scene. While the beach itself is currently closed due to safety concerns regarding landslides from erosion, you can still approach by boat, making this magnificent site even more exclusive.
Zakynthos Island Delights
Having marveled at Navagio’s shipwreck, we continued our journey to the southwest of Zante and found a stunning hidden gem – Paleo Stada Beach. This idyllic location offers tranquility, ideal sailing conditions, and opportunities for swimming, paddleboarding, or simply lounging on its pristine shores. With accessible marinas and ports nearby in AUSTY, you’ll have plenty of options to ensure your journey is both relaxing and worry-free.
An Unforgettable Experience
Our adventure aboard the Sailing Holly Blue continues, exploring hidden coves, navigating through azure waters, and discovering the wonders of Greek Islands sailing. Whether you’re a seasoned sailor or an eager adventurer seeking a one-of-a-kind experience, this episode offers unforgettable sights and memories that will last a lifetime.
