It is time to take another tour and this time we venture out to the Waitangi Treaty Grounds as well as the Stone Store in Kerikeri. The Treaty Grounds are just a few minutes from the Bay of Islands marina and is the protected site of the signing of the first accord between the British Crown and the Māori. Housing several museums, interactive Māori cultural performances, lush forests, and gardens as well as breathtaking views make this the perfect site for a full-day experience. Following the tours, we then made our way over to New Zealand’s oldest stone structure, the Stone Store, and the Kerikeri Mission Station. Home to several restaurants, gardens, and orchards. A delightful late afternoon spent upon the shores of a lovely riverbank make this a most memorable stop.
