This week it is all about the timing as we make the run down the Sound of Jura, around the Mull of Kintyre and then up the Firth of Clyde to Campbeltown. Tides and currents in this area are notoriously severe, running from two to four knots at times and mistiming can add hours to a passage. We have been using the wonderful Clyde Cruising Clubs guidebooks on the Sound of Jura and the Firth of Clyde to help us with our anchorages and navigation. In this week’s episode we use their recommendations to perfectly time our passage to Campbeltown. Once there we drop the anchor and set off to explore an unexpected jewel in Scotland. Campbeltown proves to be a village with many nooks and crannies to explore, small batch gin makers to sample and of course, whiskey distillery to tour. In this case, we take the best tour of distillery that you will find at Springbank, where they still do it all onsite. Come along for this amazing stop.
