My solution to be seen on my motorbike.
I've had a couple of cars turn in front of me while on my bike. Fortunately I've been able to avoid them so far. You'd think a big bright headlight would get you seen, but it's almost invisible to the other cars. I bought these lights on ebay for just under $15 including shipping. Took me an hour to hook them up and now I do feel a lot more visible.
While testing them yesterday I was asked by two people what they were, and I could see more people looking my way. I added the switch in case I needed to turn them off if I came across a police vehicle, as I'm not sure what the legal status is of having flashing lights on the bike.
The video doesn't quite show the flashing as it is in real life. It is a rapid flash, with equal amounts of on and off time. I think it has something to do with the flash rate and the frames per second of the video clashing.
Sailing Electra
In late 2021 we bought a 1976 Catalac 9M catamaran sight unseen that had been wasting away on land for years. Flew to Europe to go check it out and discovered the engines were seized, the wiring a death trap and every through hull valve crumbled when touched. I'd been building ebikes and scooters for years and decided I'd repower it as an electric. My wife and I spent 4 months peeling away all the rot, and pulling out all the wiring so we could start again from scratch. Eight months of very hard work in some icy cold weather and the boat was finally ready for the water. It now has two 6kW electric outboards, 3200W of solar and a 14.4kwh lithium battery bank. We've taken it from Croatia where we bought it, to Venice and then all the way through Croatia, back to Italy and now to Greece where we are today. We run everything off solar, the motors, cooking, making water and heating it, we even have a washing machine and dishwasher! We love this boat 🙂
