Unexpected Powerboat Races in Thailand! Sailing from Koh Sichang to Monkey Island
After two nights at anchor at Koh Sichang near Pattaya, we pull up anchor and sail back toward mainland Thailand. Just south of Pattaya, we find a beautiful anchorage and head ashore, only to discover we’ve landed in the middle of an unexpected powerboat race with multiple classes and divisions. It was an awesome surprise and something we definitely didn’t expect to see on this sailing trip.
The next morning, we set sail for Monkey Island (Koh Ped / Koh Ling), hoping to catch the monkeys down on the beach before heading back to Pattaya and the marina. This one had a little bit of everything: island anchoring, sailing in the Gulf of Thailand, local boating culture, and a fun stop at one of the most popular islands near Pattaya.
