Amanda has some huge bug bites in some exotic locations!

A Sailing Adventure to Spanish Wells with a Brush of Pesky Bug Bites

In this video, Amanda joins us on the water as we recount our journey from the wavy docks, through bug-infested areas, and into the welcoming arms of Spanish Wells. The light winds added an element of excitement to the 45-mile voyage north. The Adventure Begins As we prepare for departure, Amanda points out that we will be sailing to Spanish Wells. A historic island settlement, it was established by British colonials who were shipwrecked nearby in the 17th century and later by loyalists from the American Revolution. Bug Bites Galore The sailing to Spanish Wells, while exciting with light winds that increased through the day and overnight, was plagued by hordes of bugs. In a humorous moment, Amanda remarks about the massive bug bites she had suffered. Arriving in Spanish Wells We successfully depart the dock with some throttle and head towards our destination, eventually arriving in the narrow channel leading into Spanish Wells. Despite limited dinghy docking options available for cruisers like us, we tied up at a private dock. Exploring Spanish Wells Our explorations in the small island community reveal a rich history, with residents proudly tracing their ancestry back to British settlers. After checking out local facilities and getting a bite to eat, Amanda’s attention turns towards leaving for family reasons. The Farewell Moment Though the journey was filled with adventure and laughs, we must now bid Amanda farewell. As she prepares to leave for her mother who’s experiencing issues, she leaves us with a warm embrace and fond wishes. She promises to return soon. The Conclusion While Amanda departs for home, we stay in Spanish Wells. The plan is simple: keep cruising. We ensure our surroundings are taken care of and that all systems onboard the boat are operational. Join us in future episodes as we explore more beautiful locations while learning about life on a sailboat, fixing bugs in a new dingy motor, managing solar energy for power needs, enjoying the camaraderie of fellow sailors, and making new memories with each voyage.
Exploring a unique island in the Bahamas, Spanish Wells. First used by the spanish early on in their trade routes, Spanish Wells was founded in 1647 by british colonist that shipwrecked nearby. Then after the American revolutionary war more british settlers that had been lowaly to the crown in the war moved to the island after they were no longer welcome in the newly formed USA.
