This week I had a close call with a log splitter and nearly lost my finger while working in our woodland. I’ll show the injury later in the video for those who are morbidly curious.
After that scare, the week took an unexpected turn.
My wife found an acorn with a root already wriggling out while on a walk and decided to see if it would grow. It did. That small moment sparked a much bigger idea — to start collecting, testing, and germinating native tree seeds so we can grow and plant our own trees here in the woodland.
In this video I talk about the accident, reflect on slowing down, and then jump into the thick of seed hunting as we search for acorns and other native seeds to grow oak, hazel, and sweet chestnut for the future of the land.
This channel documents our British woodland life, traditional skills, forestry, tree planting, and the quiet process of building something long-term for our family.
