‘How to fix an outboard that is hard to start’ was the first thing I typed into the Youtube search bar as I set out as a total non mechanic on a journey to try and bring this little engine back from the dead!
You see when you live on a sailboat full time you quickly learn that you either need lots of money to pay other people to fix everything that WILL break, or you try and learn all the skills you can in order to fix these problems yourself.
Armed with the power of Youtube videos, we set out to see how possible it is for a regular Joe to fix a broken outboard engine themselves?!
Bits I needed to buy from Amazon to help with the repairs:
* Carb Cleaner Spray (make sure you wear goggles, as this product can clearly also double up as a home self-defense weapon) – https://amzn.to/396GDCI
* Carb cleaning ‘utensils’ – https://amzn.to/36A89aQ
* Outboard leg (gear oil injector/ adapter kit) – https://amzn.to/3LhzKwJ
