After two years and five months of living aboard our sailing catamaran, Big Lost, we’re back home in Idaho—and being here has brought up some unexpected feelings.
Watching Finn and Maddie reconnect with their friends as though no time has passed has made me question some of the decisions we’ve made as parents. Have we given our kids an extraordinary childhood sailing around the world, or have we taken them away from experiences they might have had growing up at home?
In this episode, we’re spending time with family and friends, revisiting our ranch in Idaho, and reflecting on the two very different lives we’re fortunate enough to call our own.
From the ranch to the Pacific Ocean, we’re learning that choosing an unconventional life doesn’t mean having all the answers.
We’re heading back to Big Lost in French Polynesia, where we’ll spend the coming months before continuing our sailing journey west in the spring.
