The hardest week while living on a sailboat. Episode 29

We got up early and sailed to the British Virgin Islands. We arrived in Tortola and headed to the Nanny Cay Marina. We got a slip for the night to get our boat hauled out the following day.
The next morning they informed us that the lift had a flat tire so we waited around. It finally got fixed and we were able to pull off the dock and head to the lift.
We hauled our boat out of the water, a first time for us. It was a cool experience see that massive boat suspended in the air. The kids all did an amazing job getting the boat all ready to go.
Banana Pancakes was placed in a great spot where we could overlook the ocean and feel the breeze. This would be important as we would be staying here for at least a week. (Ended up being 8 days total)
We spent our days at the Nanny Cay pool, playing games, working out and just hanging out. The boys spent the days fixing broken things on the boat.
The boat got a new paint job on the bottom. We got the sail-drives fixed as well.
That first night was awful sleeping on the boat. We all got eaten alive by mosquitos. Steve decided to put up the mosquito nets we had purchased a long time ago. They helped a little but every night was so bad! My entire face was covered in bits.
Steve took the boys to the fishing store to look at some new stuff. Then later that day we all played soccer in the dirt. We also periodically would go check out some of the boats around the boat yard.
We needed a day off so we rented a car and headed to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints that Sunday.
After church we took a drive around Tortola. It had changed so much since we were there last, 8 years ago in 2015. We went to Cane Garden Bay to have lunch at the same restaurant we did years ago. We decided to hit up the movie theatre in town to see the new Mario Brother's movie.
Afterwards it was time for a much needed grocery haul. We all went together and worked together to get it done quickly.
The boys kept themselves busy playing dress up and being silly. When you don't have anything and you also don't have anything to do you have to use your imagination. They had a blast!
Kamden took his new skateboard out each day to get some exercise. Karver tried out his new remote control boat and Easton enjoyed the pool.
For home-school we had the boys do a report on St. Martin, our next island we would be going to.
Finally after eight days our boat was ready to go back in the water! We were so excited!
After we splashed a problem arose where the engine wouldn't turn off. We were worried for a hot second, but Steve managed to figure it out.
We were invited by Eco & Exodus to join them at Peter Island. We headed in that direction. This anchorage is a med-moor type of anchoring where you use two stern lines to tie up your boat after backing it in. In was new for us but we figured it out.
Upon arriving we saw Bill & Natalie on Eco headed out in a hurry. Apparently Bill got his finger caught and tore it off! It was so scary but they were headed into the town emergency room.
That night was so calm we ended up having dinner out on the trampolines. We reminisced about life and had the best night being grateful for our sailing adventure.
The next morning Natalie offered to teach me how to swim! I sucked but was grateful for the information she gave me.
Join us next week as we head for the BVI's!
