In this episode we leave Salinas, Puerto Rico with a fixed engine! Finally! We have a nice sail to Vieques, Puerto Rico. We lift the sails, do some deep sea fishing, and our sailboat/catamaran is working perfectly!
We set anchor and the kids enjoy surfing behind the dinghy for a few hours. Afterwards, we all pile in to check out the bioluminescent water. On the way there the prop on the dinghy is acting up again and Steve makes the decision to turn around and head back to the boat.
The next morning we wake up, eat breakfast, workout, and then set sail again for the USVI's. We love the Virgin Islands and are so excited to get back. We originally were headed to St. Thomas, but a big storm is headed that way and we instead head to St. John. A lot of our buddy boats are there tucking into the bay for shelter.
On the way there the boys fish and catch a few.
We finally make it to the island and it's so beautiful! We head to Maho Beach. We ride out the storm watching movies as a family.
The next day we head out for a hike. The kids made it only halfway and Steve and I keep going.
We hiked 7 miles too and from.
The following day we head to Watermelon Cay with Everyday Saturday and a couple of kids on some other sailboats. The kids try out their new surfboards. Only a few of them are able to catch waves, but they will learn.
It's time to head to St. Thomas, in the US. Virgin Islands. It's a quick and easy sail there. When we arrive we provision again, do all our laundry and empty our trash. It's packed with large ships in the anchorage, and a big change of scenery from what we have been used to.
We get ready for my sister to come visit!
