In this episode we are anchored in Salinas, Puerto Rico. Steve gets in contact with Jake Archer, a marine diesel mechanic who agrees to drive to us to fix our engine. He does this for 5 days straight! We are so grateful for his help.
The boys enjoy the calm of being anchored, and spend their time getting caught up on school and Tarpin fishing. Each night they fish with the rest of the boys in the anchorage, and these fish are huge!
Steve's mom Terri comes to visit and we head to the many grocery stores in Puerto Rico to re-provision and stock up.
We then take the car to the big city of San Juan. We spend the day visiting Old San Juan and the Fort at El Morro. We stay the night in a vrbo. The next day we hike Mt. Britton and make it to the top of the fortress. We look out over the entire rainforest.
We then head to El Yunque National Forest. We do some small hikes to different waterfalls. The boys play in the water and it's absolutely stunning.
Our last stop is to Las Tinajas Falls where we decided to do a "Steve Adventure" and climb over boulders and rocks up the river. After an hour I decide to walk on the trail and make it to the Falls.
I waited forever for the rest to join and they finally make it! The boys spend the rest of the afternoon rope swinging and having a blast. I can't believe how beautiful and green it is.
On the way back we decide to take the trail. When we get to the gate we realize we are locked in! We try and find a way out and can't. Finally the owner of the house near by comes and unlocks the gate for us.
We head back to the boat, and once again the boys spend the night fishing for Tarpin.
The next day it's time to take Nana back to the airport. Malia and I drive her back wile Steve finishes work on the engine.
I leave Kamden in charge of homeschool.
Join us next week as we head to the Virgin Islands!
