Dodging Lobster Pots (and boat humping Whales!) 🤣 we sail to Dominican Republic | Aequus Ep.11

Its a sad time as we have to say goodbye to @RyanSophieSailing but it cant be helped as we have been in Bonaire for 3 months and our visa is about to expire!

We set off at 5am with another boat as we need to catch high tide when we arrive in Dominican Republic. To our surprise Ryan and Sophie are out on Polar Seal (at 5am!!!) to see us off. They say there are big ships and little ships but nothing like friendships!

We have a good sail to the DR and average well over 7.5 knots but unfortunately Philippa gets sea sick. Neither of us tend to suffer from sea sickness’s so we are not sure why this passage was different.

Arriving in Cap Cana we our led down a very shallow channel to our berth where we rest for the night.

We set off the next day for Samana which we have heard from other cruisers is absolutely beautiful and a great whale watching spot. Again, its a race to get there in daylight hours and we have to dodge numerous lobster pots and small fishing boats.

Arriving in Samana we find out that it was all worth the effort!
