Welcome back to Land and Sea with Kee. Join us as we embark on a journey through the southern region of the Baja Peninsula.
After spending the first part of our trip logging hours, miles, and navigating through military checkpoints, we have finally started to enjoy the slower pace and embrace the Baja lifestyle. One checkpoint even led us through a thorough search, and one guard even humorously inquired about Chewy’s friendliness, much to our amusement.
Our first stop was at the town of Mulegé, where we filled up on water, and then moved on to a beautiful beach nearby. While it was busy with activity, our stay there provided some valuable relaxation.
To address the tire issue we were facing, Kee found a small shop in Mulegé that could weld the leak. He also cleaned up Chewy’s wound from when he accidentally cut his foot. Along with these necessary repairs and upkeep, we made it a point to appreciate every sunrise during this trip by going on walks or paddling together.
At our new Beachside campsite, we met some amazing neighbors, Talia, Maddie, Ru, and Ashley. We enjoyed the stunning sunrise, hiked up a mountain, tried paddleboarding together, and shared meaningful connections.
After some initial hesitation, Chewy eventually became more comfortable in the water. Kee tried getting him to jump off the paddleboard into the water, although it wasn’t an easy task at first. Over time, and with encouragement, Chewy managed a few jumps on his own.
The beach was picturesque for swimming and just enjoying the water. We shared quality time with our new friends, their dogs, had a delicious fish dinner, made a fire, enjoyed some margaritas at a hidden bar on another beach, and basked in the serenity of morning sunrises.
After creating beautiful memories with our new friends and their dogs, it was time for us to bid farewell. Though the place remains incredibly breathtaking, the connections we made added an even deeper layer of cherished moments. We plan to return and explore this special spot further.
Our adventure doesn’t end here. On our way out, we’re heading to Lazaro Cardenas to have our vehicle’s alignment checked and hopefully replace both front tires, as their condition worries us.
To keep exploring the wonders of Baja while addressing maintenance concerns for safe travels, follow along on this exciting journey with Sail with Kee.
I haven't posted a video in over a month. I've been bust living the Baja life style. This footage is from early March back when we first arrived in Southern Baja California. We had just started spending more time exploring and meeting new people. Chewee has gained his sea legs and is now a kayaking and paddleboarding dog. He's even just going for swims now! More videos to come soon :)
