Disclaimer… ships in camera are much closer than they appear! In order to continue our Southeast Asia adventures, we had to make our way up the notorious Malacca Straits. This meant we were once again tangling with the big ships, with the added complication of lots of small fishing boats as well. Oh and the trash is still present, which has an annoying tendency to wrap around props.
The winds and currents in this part of the world can be quite tricky, with sudden storms coming up that can bring northerly winds and currents that can be 2+ knots. The best forecast we could find was one with no wind at all so we topped off the tanks and with Amy’s cousin Sarah onboard, we went for it
(PS: Yes… I know there is some footage that’s upside down. When I’m editing in Premiere, it’s right side up and since we’re in a place where data is super slow and $10/gb, you’re just going to have to live with it. haha)

We started out (nervously!) watching our boat get launched in La Rochelle, France in October of 2014. Since then we've completed an entire world circumnavigation, sailing over 37,000nm, and documented it all here on YouTube. We started making these videos to show our family and friends what life was like on a sailboat, and we're still amazed that other people have also started following along.
