46 – Sailing to New Zealand: Our Roughest Passage Yet

The time had finally come to leave Fiji and set sail down to New Zealand. This passage is notorious for being rough and it certainly didn’t disappoint. For the first three days we bashed through big seas and strong winds which took a toll on both boat and crew.

It wasn’t all bad though as the wind and waves did eventually shift around and for the second half of the trip we had decent sailing. We arrived into New Zealand after celebrating Thanksgiving at sea and were super excited to have completed our first season of cruising the South Pacific.
