Volvo Ocean 70 Sails Through High-Stakes Race
An intense moment unfolded in the Hal carnassus Cup in Turkey when a Volvo Ocean 70 racing yacht faced a major obstacle. The crew, sailing downwind at a brisk 15 knots, witnessed their spinnaker suddenly come loose from its shackle.
As the prized sail floated perilously close to the waves, team members swiftly jumped into action. However, they didn’t act alone; other boats in the vicinity also pitched in. Together, the crew worked diligently to secure the errant sail and stow it away properly just as they approached a small island in their course.
Their hard work paid off when they successfully rounded the island and began the ascent toward the finish line. Unfortunately, any wind they had left had deserted them by this point. However, with spirits undeterred, the crew celebrated their determination and perseverance to complete the grueling race, earning applause from all who witnessed it.

When we were invited to race on a Volvo Ocean 70 for the Halicarnassus Cup in Turkiye, we knew we would be in for a day of adventure.
What we did not expect was for the spinnaker to blow on us as we were cruising downwind at 15 knots!
It's a good thing our crew jumped into action right away, and we were all able to work together ro get it under control.
