14 | Sailing the Society Islands, Mo’orea and Huahine

We left the Tuomotus on a 240 nautical mile passage to Mo’orea in the Society Islands. These islands are like a geologic combination of the towering Marquesas and the coral ribbons of the Tuomotus. After a brief visit to Tahiti to pick up additional crew, we explored the ancient ruins and towering views of Mo’orea before another 80 mile passage to the lush island of Huahine.

Our vessel Julia is a traditional wooden boat. She was built in 1960 to the Ingrid design by William Atkin. She has safely carried us for thousands of offshore sailing miles, and made our blue water cruising dreams come true.
