Ep 28: Single-handed from the Caribbean to the USA

The passage from the Caribbean to Florida is considered easy in April and the weather is said to be quite good. However, a lot is different on this cruise. Byside the wonderful sailing moments, the weather is often unsettled. Many squalls come and go, especially at night. I can barely escape a thunderstorm.
I have good luck fishing. The new equipment with a larger drum, stronger line and larger bait has proven its worth. I can catch three mahi mahi in a few days and of course there is a lot of fish to eat.
Finally, I ride through the Straits of Florida in a force 7 northeast wind. The conditions here are borderline for my Jambo due to the strong Gulf Stream, which is against wind and waves, but of course we made it.
After 1124 nm and 8 days, the anchor drops in Lake Sylvia, Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
