Making the most of our last few days in Kefalos on Kosl! (Sailing Dakini - Leave to Roam Ep. 106)
In this episode we are still learning to wingfoil. It is a bit wind dependent, and we do hire a more appropriate beginner board to help us master the upwind. Kefalos has an amazing beach and great conditions for beginners, but unfortunately we don't manage to get any lessons.
We also take the opportunity to walk up into the old town to check out some views of Dakini at anchor before the wind moves us on. We sail in company with Callista east around Kos, provisioning briefly during a short overnight of the town, before heading north. Conditions aren't great but we make it as far as Pserimos, dodging pirates all the way, and yes, I get a tuna.

Al, from New Zealand and Kel from Australia met through work in 2010 and have been together ever since. Always infected by the travel bug they finally decided to head off on an adventure and started with Vietnam and Laos before heading to Sri Lanka, India, then Cambodia and Indonesia. Their mission is to explore as many off the beaten track places as possible through a slow travel philosophy on a tight budget.
UPDATE!!! After a few years of saving (thanks Covid) they finally did it. They now own DAKINI, a gorgeous Lagoon 421, and are (re) learning to sail while exploring the Mediterranean.

Leave to Roam
We are Kel and Al, a couple from New Zealand and Australia who have always had a passion for travel. In January 2018 we left our full time jobs and started to travel the world. We spent two years travelling on a budget through South East Asia documenting our adventures as we went before we found a new dream, to buy a boat! Fours years of hard work scrimping and saving led us to our dream. We introduce you to our home Dakini. She is a 2010 Lagoon 421 and we love her. Purchased in Greece we started our adventure cruising the greek islands. Two years later we have sailed all over Greece, Italy, Turkey and Malta with a winter in Tunisia. Our plan for 2026 is to explore Albania, Italy, Malta, France and Spain before the biggest adventure of our lives, crossing the Atlantic around New Years. Exciting times ahead.
