Heading to the more remote and stunning Cyclades! (Sailing Dakini - Leave to Roam Ep. 84)
In this episode we first take Helen and Pete back to Parakia so we can do a little tourism, but it is time to head further into the Cyclades. First we head west around Parakia, catching our first fish of the season and our first barracuda in the shallows between Paros and Anti-Paros. We then anchor off Golden Beach to try and get Helen and Pete into the water.
We then sail further east to Naxos, anchoring in an an amazingly remote bay of Kalantos. This spot is renowned for its rural setting and unique farm-taverna where we had a delicious Greek dinner cooked from ingredients off the farm. Yes, we did get Helen and Pete into the water in this amazing spot, before heading off again towards Koufonissi.

Al, from New Zealand and Kel from Australia met through work in 2010 and have been together ever since. Always infected by the travel bug they finally decided to head off on an adventure and started with Vietnam and Laos before heading to Sri Lanka, India, then Cambodia and Indonesia. Their mission is to explore as many off the beaten track places as possible through a slow travel philosophy on a tight budget.
UPDATE!!! After a few years of saving (thanks Covid) they finally did it. They now own DAKINI, a gorgeous Lagoon 421, and are (re) learning to sail while exploring the Mediterranean.

We are Kel and Al, a couple from New Zealand and Australia who have always had a passion for travel. In January 2018 we left our full time jobs and started to travel the world. We spent two years travelling on a budget through South East Asia documenting our adventures as we went before we found a new dream, to buy a boat! Fours years of hard work scrimping and saving led us to our dream. We introduce you to our home Dakini. She is a 2010 Lagoon 421 and we love her. Purchased in Greece we started our adventure cruising the greek islands. Two years later we have sailed all over Greece, Italy, Turkey and Malta with a winter in Tunisia. Our plan for 2026 is to explore Albania, Italy, Malta, France and Spain before the biggest adventure of our lives, crossing the Atlantic around New Years. Exciting times ahead.
