Wildwind Sailing Instructor

Job Overview: Teaching sailing to a wide range of students of all ages, all abilities and several nationalities. Looking after the boats, high wind sailing and helping to provide safety cover are fundamental parts of the role. The sailing instruction team at Wildwind are at the heart of the company are responsible for making sure that all guests are having the best time possible.

If you love sailing it’s probably the best job in the world, sailing a variety of boats in some of the best conditions.

Responsibilities and Duties:

– Teaching all levels of sailing on monohulls and catamarans.
– Providing safety cover either as a powerboat driver, assistant or as lookout from the watch tower.
– Joyriding, taking guests of all abilities and levels of fitness out sailing in strong wind on a variety of catamarans and monohull in a safe and controlled manner.
– Maintaining the boats, including daily checks, reporting faults or repairing them when within your abilities.
– Rigging, launching, de-rigging and recovering the boats.
– Helping the guests to enjoy their holiday, to feel looked after, safe and well informed.
– Helping to keep the centre and grounds looking good.

Minimum Qualifications:

– Qualified sailing Instructor
– ICC powerboat certificate
– 1st aid qualification

Experience Required:
– At least one season’s experience teaching sailing,
– high wind sailing and trapezing
– BONUSES
– catamaran or performance monohul experience
– racing experience
– extra languages

Applicants should be:

– Hard working with a positive attitude.
– you should have fantastic people skills
– Excellent team player.
– Physically fit because
– Able to work long days in the sun, many hours on the water.
– Very enthusiastic about sailing
– ready to instruct from when you arrive.
– European passport

WHEN?
we have a 12 week minimum period.
Preference is given to those who can work for a longer period. The ideal is if you can work for the full season – Early May to Early October.

Wildwind Bosun

Job Overview: Responsible for looking after the fleet of sailing boats and powerboats, making sure that they are in a fit state to be used. Repairing any damage that occurs quickly so that the boats are in action for as much time as possible.

Being called upon to perform other practical tasks is to be expected. Some groundkeeping. The ideal candidate will take pride in being a part of Wildwind and work to make the place (with the help of the other staff) as good as it can be.

The working hours are variable, mostly mornings and evenings when necessary. Leaving afternoons to go out sailing or windsurfing.

Responsibilities and Duties:

– Fibreglass and gelcoat repair.
– Regular inspections of all boats, trailers and trolleys.
– Replacement of parts and other repairs to boats, trolleys and equipment when needed.
– Logging parts used and stock numbers.
– Communicating with local suppliers and specialists.
– Helping the guests to enjoy their holiday, to feel looked after, safe and well informed.
– Helping to keep the centre and grounds looking good.

Experience Required:
– At least one season’s experience as bosun or similar.
– Powerboat driving and basic engine maintenance.
– knowledge of a range of dinghies and catamarans.
– The use and application of repair materials.

Applicants should be:

– Hard working with a positive attitude.
– Independent and reliable.
– Great communicator.
– Excellent team player.
– Physically fit.
– Flexible, able to work in difficult conditions.
– Inventive – able to find solutions to a variety of problems, occasionally without the ideal facilities.
– Very enthusiastic about sailing and or windsurfing.

WHAT WE ARE OFFERING

A travel allowance to get out here
Accommodation – sharing a room with another instructor – if you are over 30 years old you will have to subsidise your accommodation as we can’t have you sharing.
Basic wages – this is enough to cover your cost of living if you are well organised and quite sensible
On the job training – to boost your personal level and the levels that you can instruct
A great time, possibly the best summer you’ll ever have.
