TORNADO Catamaran 23 knots – Training Day 1 Ends With a BANG
Tornado training day — and things are getting FAST.
James Henderson joins me for his first ever sail on a Tornado catamaran as we continue preparing the boat — and ourselves — for the 2026 Tornado European Championships.
There’s still plenty of practice and boat refinement required, but we're starting to get some serious performance out of the Tornado, including fast spinnaker runs at **over 23 knots**.
We also deal with a spinnaker halyard issue during the session — but eventually it's the **jib halyard snapping** that brings the day to an early end.
Fortunately, we managed to save the jib. A snapped halyard at speed can very easily result in a destroyed sail, so this one could have been considerably more expensive!
