No Steering & Far Away from Society, Who Cares ?

In this captivating video, Huub finds himself faced with a daunting challenge when he discovers that his boat’s steering is broken, leaving him wondering how long it will take to fix and whether he’ll be able to continue his journey. With determination and ingenuity, Huub tackles the problem head-on.

Steering Issue on Canouan

The issue arises when Huub notices that his steering isn’t working properly. Undeterred, he drops anchor and sets out to find a solution while keeping the boat secure. His resourcefulness leads him to discover an emergency tiller on his boat, allowing him to continue sailing temporarily until he can make permanent repairs.

Repairing the Steering System

While investigating the issue further, Huub learns that the quadrant is cracked. Although it’s repairable with a good machine shop, he initially considers finding a replacement part to fix his steering system more quickly.

Huub takes advantage of being in Canouan and manages to find an open hardware store on the island to look for a suitable replacement quadrant. Thankfully, helpful neighbors offer guidance and assistance, enabling him to make significant progress with the repairs.

A Glimpse into Canouan

During his time on Canouan Island, Huub explores its picturesque landscape and makes friends along the way. He learns about the island’s beautiful hidden gems, like abandoned houses with breathtaking views of the crystal-clear waters.

The Tobago Keys

Once the boat is repaired and sea-worthy once again, Huub sets sail for the stunning Tobago Keys in St. Vincent and the Grenadines. The journey involves navigating through a reef area but pays off as he arrives at the crystal-blue waters of this world-famous wildlife reserve.

Here, fishing is strictly forbidden to protect the sea turtles that thrive in these waters. Huub and his partner swim amongst the vibrant marine life and discover an abundance of underwater beauty hidden beneath the waves, including a massive stingray under their boat.

An Inspiring Adventure

The video showcases Huub’s unwavering spirit and resilience as he faces unexpected obstacles head-on. Through hard work and a supportive community, he is able to restore his boat’s steering system so that he can continue his journey in exploring the incredible destinations of Canouan and the Tobago Keys.
