As we depart the Grand Banks of Newfoundland and head out into the wide Atlantic toward Ireland, the eastward marching low pressure systems bear down upon us. The winds remain out of the south and west quadrants, which makes for fast sailing, but those miles are paid for with a modicum of misery.
