Closing the Virginia coast I encounter thick fog, which brings back memories of sailing the coast of Maine with my father years ago. And then comes the fickle winds, which also bring back memories of Maine in the summer. Meanwhile I’m contending with some south setting current which has me drifting a little close to Virginia Beach. Nonetheless, just after midnight, on March 30, I am anchor down in Fishing Bay. Two days later I find a wind to sail into Jackson Creek, where I intend to haul out at the Deltaville Boatyard. I am then informed that the Deltaville Boatyard will not allow me to work on my boat in the yard, which doesn’t work for me at all, so I ring up True North Boat Works just around the corner and they can accommodate me. But that means another round of tricky sailing …
