Luperon presents a rather tricky departure for the engineless cruising boat. One first has to work out of the narrow entrance into the anchorage, which will mean tacking against the prevailing easterly trade winds. I choose an early morning calm to make this first move. But I cannot leave yet as I still have to get outbound clearance from the officials just prior to departure, so I anchor further out and await their visit. And finally there is the entrance itself to negotiate, which has my anxiety levels elevated …
