Boat Projects Begin! Fixing the Rudder on our Seawind 1600 Catamaran | Harbors Unknown Ep. 21

We hit bottom. We’re not proud of it but if you’re in a room full of sailors and one claims they never hit bottom they’re either lying or they never leave the dock. Our rudder was pushed up and the metal pin worked really hard to keep it in place and was dragged down through the board. There was damage in a couple other places so our friend Pablo is teaching us how to fix it.

Pablo is the owner of Southern Cross Boat Works Shrink Wrap & Scaffolding https://scaffoldsandshrinkwrapservices.com/, sailed for many years and has worked on boats throughout his life. He shared many tips with us and the experience was invaluable. Thank you Pablo!

If you’re new here, Harbors Unknown is the story of two dreamers, Kristin and Fabio Potenti, and our French Bulldog dog Yoda. We sold our home at the beginning of the pandemic (May 27th, 2020) and moved aboard our #Seawind1600 #catamaran, Wanderlust, in September. We plan to sail her to Harbors Unknown, and explore the world’s vast cultures through food, a common thread amongst people everywhere. Connecting with people and places through the local cuisine, and showing how those dishes can be cooked on a boat with limited space and resources. We share the adventures of #boatlife and how it’s possible to live an #alternativelifestyle that provides freedom and fulfillment. Until we officially begin our world voyage, we’re exploring the beautiful waters of #SouthFlorida and the Florida Keys. Subscribe now to join our #sailingadventure.

I Don’t Like the Beach. So I Went to Con Market.

Da Nang is famous for its beaches. I had enough of them. So I went to Con Market instead. Pork, fermented food, coagulated blood, endless stalls, and the kind of organized chaos I was hoping to find in Vietnam.
