Can we FINALLY get on the water? - Sailing Turtle

After our “half splash” last week, it felt that we’d never get into the water. But instead of getting down about it, we kept our heads down and got into more boat projects and hanging out with friends. We decided to treat ourselves with staying in air conditioning at night time by staying at a hotel and extended it for each day that the propshaft didn’t arrive. After three days of hopefully waiting, it arrived and the next 24 hours appeared to be a blur. The propshaft got installed and we were splashed. We didn’t even pick up a camera in case it was another fluke.

But we did and Turtle was great. We got into a slip and while final repairs to the transmission cables were being done, we finished up projects while simultaneously discovering new problems that had arisen when she was on the hard. But the next morning, we assessed the situation and decided if she could sail we should leave.

We spent the night at the beautiful Weems Creek in the Severn River and as usual had our ups and downs for the day. We took it all in stride and finally, it felt that our adventure on the water could finally begin.
