Where would you run? Brutal waves vs no safe anchorage? - Sailing Ep 157
July 18, 2019 by followtheboat | Language: EN Play Time: 00:27:09 | SAILING YOUTUBERS

It was time to make up our minds – steep, brutal waves bowling in from the west vs a long coastline with no bolt-holes. And impending storms. What would you do?
We ask YOU for your questions each week on our YouTube Community Tab: https://www.youtube.com/user/spannerheadz/community. It’s where you’ll find out who won the FTB mug; was it you? At the time of writing no-one’s claimed it! You’ll find lots of news, polls, questions, gifs and pics on this great interactive page. Make sure you are subscribed and have clicked the notification bell to receive updates every time we upload!
Short-term navigating (when conditions change suddenly and you have to amend your sailing plans on the hoof) is a vital skill to learn when you are a cruiser. In Indonesia, and throughout southeast Asia, storms and squalls develop fast, so how do you tackle these sudden changes? And how do you navigate storms and squalls when to the west the swells are steep and unpredictable, but to the east there is nowhere safe to anchor?
