Steering & Skeg Repairs
One of the primary focuses in this episode is repairing the sailboat’s steering mechanism. The crew faces a challenge when one of the legs of the block pulley system breaks during removal for new cable installation. To fix this, Hendro welds a new leg and installs two new bearings within the pulley to ensure smooth operation.
Skeg Repairs
The team also continues work on the skeg of the sailboat. The skeg needs repairs and reinforcement, specifically around where the bronze shoe is fixed to ensure proper stability when sailing. To rebuild this area, the crew uses micro balloons mixed with epoxy resin for its easy sanding qualities.
Night Photography in Jakarta
Amidst their work, Jamie finds time to indulge in night photography around Fatahillah Square. This area of Jakarta comes alive at night and presents a perfect backdrop for capturing stunning shots with his camera.
Looking Ahead
As the crew nears completion of these repairs, they remain hopeful that they will be able to put their sailboat back in the water within a week. Despite dealing with unforeseen challenges like jet lag and local noise pollution, they manage to make Jakarta work for their sailboat maintenance requirements.

The team also takes advantage of being in a new location by exploring nearby areas. Jamie goes on early morning walks along Madan’s Beach, utilizing his newly acquired secondhand camera to capture the beauty around him.
