Epic Solar Build – But Getting the Panels Becomes the ADVENTURE | EE 154

Welcome in to Expedition Evans where we do awesome stuff, well we’re doing awesome stuff this week, occasionally sometimes, sometimes we do cool things. W okay we have a very important boat mission and that mission involves our new solar panels. We’re doing a huge solar array with our new carbon fiber hard top that we are building, we are going to be having actually this will be a surprise a lot of watts of solar on this thing, and so we need to go collect the solar panels. We’re also getting new Battle Board batteries because they’re, I think we’ll get into that later, but we’re getting new batteries. The batteries and the solar panels are together in Italy, and we are in Spain, so we are going to get ourselves to Italy to collect those things and then we can bring them back. Which means road trip! That’s what it means. Why aren’t we sailing there? We are picking them up on a deadline and sailing on a deadline is never a good idea, and so we have to be there in 3 days. We maybe, maybe could have made it in time if we would have left yesterday, but then we’re really pushing it, and if anything goes wrong, it would be a huge problem. So we’re making a trip out of it. It’s a road trip, but first we’ve got to pack up our boat, and then we’ve got to pack back up our new van… Well, it’s not ours, temporarily.

Boat Packing Essentials

Yeah, there is a life Vail in this city. I can take what I need to get by. I am by any definition an under packer. I just never really stress it, and I don’t pack a lot. And I’m more likely to show up with not enough things than too many things. Today is an exception apparently because, maybe it’s just as the rule of you fill the space you have because we actually have way more space in the van than I was anticipating and I’m just kind of grabbing everything in the boat that I possibly can, and I’m putting it in the van. Like do we need a dingy pump? Sure. I’m just kidding. Not quite that bad but I feel like I’m grabbing a lot of things… Um, but mainly what it is is that we’re just out of time.

A Road Trip to Italy

We were supposed to get the van this morning and it took 5 hours at the van rental place to actually get the van and so we were planning to pack today, we’re planning to shower, we planning to work a little bit, but we’re out of time and we only have so long to do this road trip and we would like to be doing fun things so we’re kind of just it’s a free-for-all and we’ll hope that we have all the things we actually need when we’re actually on the road.

Road Trip Highlights

for fueling our road trip in more ways than one… Usually when we start packing up clothes and stuff, dingy gets really nervous because that usually means we’re leaving, but this time he’s optimistic. You can see his ears; he’s very interested. You see he’s got some sadness, but he’s but he’s hopeful.

We didn’t pull out any suitcases because we didn’t pull out any suitcases and he got to go in the van. So I think he might be like, am I coming? Am I are we doing this? Are we going on a road trip?

Beast! I think we’re packed. I mean we are definitely pack. We’re way way packed. We’re packed for a couple months. Yeah. We don’t never need to come back, but we do want to come back and we will come back and we need our boat to be good when we do so the dogs are so ready to go! So ready!

We’re going to bring the stern wheels back onto the boat, that life ring might not look very impressive but it is a marine LIF ring which means it’s very expensive.

And then we also have this fancy Dancy, fancy cord got it that so expensive. I was shocked when we bought it but it’s like you gotta have it otherwise somebody could die, You know? So I guess it makes sense that’s so expensive… But we don’t want it to walk away while we’re gone. Yeah.

We didn’t have to buy that expensive of one, but we needed… We needed one and it was like. It’s like middle of the grade, Middle Road for that.

We do need a new life preserver ours is kind of falling apart. Maybe we could just put a do cover on it.

The End of One Adventure and the Beginning of Another

We’re just going to unplug this and put it inside the locked boat so it doesn’t wander away. Go, En we’re actually going to take the padal with us that gives two things… One makes it a lot hard to get onto the boat, We don’t have a pel and then we can use this to maybe do some exploring.
