On Friday the 13th of October, Drake and Mo embarked on an exciting sailing trip from Gion, Spain to Bilbao. The planned route spanned over 130 nautical miles with hopes for a smooth journey. However, Mother Nature had other plans in store.
Originally, the weather report suggested light winds coming from behind them during their trip. But as they started to sail out of the harbor, this plan quickly changed.
The initial forecast did not match with the actual wind conditions. Instead of having a smooth sail, Drake and Mo suddenly found themselves navigating through strong gusts of winds coming from various directions.
Adding to their challenges, the sailors were also required to be extra cautious while sailing through busy shipping lanes. Navigating between other boats became a key focus for them.
In the middle of their voyage, they also encountered a group of Orcas not too far away from their route. The sight would have been fascinating but posed an additional challenge for the two sailors.
To tackle these challenges, they had prepared an array of tools and techniques including a boat pole, noise makers, and physical presence on the bow. Despite the obstacles, they sailed through confidently.
In the end, after overcoming unexpected winds and navigating through shipping areas, Drake and Mo successfully reached their destination – Bilbao, Spain. While some challenges made the journey more intense than initially planned, it added to the thrill of the entire experience.
Despite facing adversity during this sailing trip, Drake and Mo remain optimistic. The voyage taught them valuable lessons about preparedness for unexpected weather conditions while maintaining their adventurous spirit. Their journey to Bilbao serves as a testament to the excitement of sea voyages and overcoming any challenge thrown at them.
With the towing adventure behind us, we're rested up and ready to sail east to meet up with family. We've chosen to leave not just on a Friday, but Friday the 13th. I'm sure all will go well...right?
