Ep38. Mavic Pro Lost Forever! Error causes it to go down in these rapids.

This is a Sad Day for me. My Mavic Pro had a battery error while I was flying over these rapids and it Crashed. Well, it’s more like it just lowered itself into the water to never be seen again. As sad as that was, the worst thing is the Timing. I bought this super small portable drone to travel with me to my 50th Birthday vacation of Chartering a Sailboat in the B.V.I. in 2+ weeks. Since they are out of stock almost everywhere, there is probably little to no chance I will get a new one before I go. Like I said…. Very Sad Day.

I figure I would make an episode out of it so others can learn what happened. If your battery ever goes from saying you have 20 minutes flight time left and then you look down 1 minute later and it says you have 5 minutes? Land your drone as soon as you can! You have a battery issue and it will soon self land wherever it is and that could be at the worst possible location (Like a raging waterfall).

Before I lost the drone, I was filming the difference between my favorite Vlogging Camera, The Canon G7X ii and my new camera, a GoPro Hero 5. I splurged on this waterproof camera so that I could use it in the B.V.I. for in the water. I had an old GoPro but the Hero 5 does not need a waterproof case and has an exterior Microphone so you can still hear people when they are talking and you are filming in and around water. Let me know what you think about the comparison in the comments below.

Obviously I spent the money on the GoPro not knowing I was going to have to buy a new drone too. SAD!

If you would like to help support the channel and help me make new episodes, please look into becomming a Patron at Patreon.com/CruisingOffDuty or if you are planning to buy anything from Amazon, just use any of the links below. Even if it takes you to a product that you decide not to buy, anything you buy on Amazon after you’re there, gets credited to the channel and gives the channel a small commision for sending you there.

It’s a win/win. You feel good for supporting the channel but Amazon is paying. Not you. 🙂

Thanks in advance if you do use a link. Email me if you buy something big (Like Rich, who bought his Mavic and Tablet through our link) and I will thank you personally.

I know this episode was kind of a bummer. Hoping for happier episodes when we are in the BVI. Chin up till then…. Craig
