Hey Everyone! It’s taken a long time to upload this video in the South Pacific, but it’s finally here!
This video has a little of everything — fixing our broken dinghy engine in the middle of nowhere, touring around a remote atoll on bikes and meeting locals who like drinking beer and challenging Ryan to a ping-pong match. Who won? You’ll have to watch to find out!
When we sailed Cheeky Monkey to Fakarava from Hiva Oa, we weren’t sure what we would find on this remote island, but we spent a long time exploring and getting to know the place, which is what we aim to show you in this video.
Like everywhere we sail to, it’s the people that make the experiences we have, and Fakarava is no exception. We like to move fast, but it helps to sit still for a while and get to know the fabric of an island and get to know the kinds of locals who can help you in a pinch when your dinghy engine stops working!

Sailing Adventure: Chase the Story is Tasha Hacker's YouTube Channel, which started as a chronicle of her RTW sailing adventures with her husband on board their FP Helia 44 catamaran, Cheeky Monkey. Within 2 years of buying the new boat, the couple got divorced, Tasha got her Captain's license and US Sailing Instructor's certification and started teaching women to sail in the Caribbean. When pandemic hit, Tasha went back to Lake Tahoe, CA and during lockdown started teaching Women's Sailing courses on Lake Tahoe, CA. She's been trying to figure out what to do next and how to keep empowering more women on boats, teaching others to sail.
