FLYING VET w ABANDONED ISLAND DOG

Catamaran Impi is sailing around the world.
In New Caledonia we came across an ABANDONED ISLAND DOG known affectionately as Moose. You may have seen our initial visit to Moose as well as our 2nd visit a year later and our concern about his lack of energy, loss of weight and poor eyesight.
After seeing our posts on Facebook, many of you aksed us to set up a ‘GoFundMe’ account so we could get him the medical care he needs … and we did exactly that … you donated … and this movie is the result of your kindness toward Moose the abandoned Island Dog. Let me also say, that Guy Kane, The Flying Vet who flew in to assist Moose, did so after many vets in New Caldeonia declined probably because of the politics of dealing with animals on what may be considered ‘Tribal Land’.
A huge amount of effort went into this visit ‘behind the scenes’ so to speak – We had assistance and advice from many people of good standing in the political, cultural and other aspects of New Caledonian ‘ways’ and without their help and care none of this would have been possible, so a huge thank you to all who got involved in seeing to it that we could fly in the necessary care for Moose.
We would also like to thank so many of the Caledoian people who reached out to us through Facebook, people like Coralie and Tierry who took the time and trouble to visit Impi, to wine and dine us and provide us with a mooring in the basin center all for free, so we could attend to meetings in facilitating this event.
Many thanks to all of you – we hope the video will show just what a ‘big deal it is’ that your contributions are making, and we hope that you can feel proud in your efforts to make island living for one abandoned dog pleasurable again.
