1. NO IMPELLER, NO RAW WATER PUMP - MARINE GENERATOR
October 12, 2017 by Catamaran Impi | Language: EN Play Time: 00:26:47 | SAILING YOUTUBERS

Numerous folks asking me about how we ditched our rubber impeller and ultimately ditched our RAW WATER PUMP entirely on the Onan generator we have onboard Catamaran Impi.
I was busy compiling a FULL OVERHAUL video for my son explaining how to strip and assemble the entire water system on the Fresh and raw water side of the generator, and thought to use some of the material to explain the VERY BASICS of how to remove the headache we as cruisers have around the rubber impeller replacement as well as sharing some further insight into raw water systems, so the NEWBIE exploring sailors out there can learn some of what we have learned from others along the way.
I would like to make it clear that this video is not intended for the ‘expert’ who is looking for a ‘quick fix and get to the point video’ – it is intended to help others understand some of the logic behind this and ultimately also provides the solution with a bit more detail in the installation. So – if you are an expert in all things technical – simply forward to the relevant parts of the video that interest you.
To put credits where credit is due – I must thank my cousin Kent @ JUST CATAMARANS in Florida, who initially gave me the idea to remove the rubber impeller in lieu of a March pump much like those used in air conditioning. If you need to purchase the correct pump, perhaps just give Kent the specifications and he will ship one out to you.
