Captain Morgan Hid His Gold in This Cave | SSL781

Everyone on San Andrés will tell you Captain Henry Morgan hid his gold in a cave on the west side of the island. The cave is real. The gold has never been found — and the ship it was supposedly on broke apart on a reef in Panama in 1671. This week Sophisticated Lady is anchored in Seaflower, the same bay the Puritans, then Morgan, then a World Court all tried to claim, and we open the crates that took longer to get here than we did by sailboat.

What’s in the episode: the Seaflower Puritans of 1631, Captain Morgan and the Satisfaction, Cueva de Morgan and what the divers found at Chagres, the 2012 and 2022 Hague rulings that kept the island Colombian and gave about 75,000 km² of sea to Nicaragua, the Raizal people and the church on the hill — then a Sunday morning aboard with Ricci, and the first look at the gear for the next Field Test season: BougeRV 200W TOPCon bifacial shade-tolerant panels, the BougeRV Solar Bimini with 200W built into the dinghy canvas, and Redodo LiFePO4 starter and dual-purpose batteries with Bluetooth.

Sailing through a squall: what it’s like

Thunderstorms, lightning, waves around 3 meters picking the boat up at the transom, and over 10 knots surfing down them. This is me at the end of it, still soaking wet. The whole passage is in the full episode: We Couldn't Slow Down (SSL780, the Related video on this Short). #shorts #sailing #...

Solar panels in shade: 2 new beat 4 old

Two new BougeRV N-Type 200W solar panels against the four old panels they replaced, in the same spot on our sailboat's side rails. The rigging and the hardtop shade them for most of the day. On their first day the two new panels peaked at 435 W. The four old panels never got past 363 W in the m...

What I ordered vs what I got: 4 solar panels

We ordered four BougeRV N-Type 200W solar panels for the side rails of our sailboat. Three arrived. The fourth box was the same size, and it was not a solar panel. Amazon swapped out one panel for a desk! BougeRV shipped a replacement solar panel straight away; the install and a month of real numbe...
