Today Canadian Ken and I step aboard something truly extraordinary — DESTINY, a one-of-one 49-foot Charles Wittholz designed, George Luizer built cutter that completely shattered our assumptions about wooden boats. Featured in WoodenBoat Magazine back in 1987, DESTINY was built using modern juniper-strip construction, epoxy encapsulation, and advanced joinery techniques so innovative that many people assume she’s fiberglass.

And here’s the truly wild part:
She’s listed at just $95,000.

For a yacht this size, this custom, this beautiful, and this capable… that number honestly stunned us.

DESTINY is believed to be the only wooden example ever built, later inspiring a fiberglass interpretation by Lyman-Morse Boatbuilding. With her shoal-draft centerboard configuration, massive interior volume, offshore-ready cutter rig, and breathtaking teak interior, this boat feels less like an “old wooden boat” and more like a handcrafted modern cruising yacht hiding in plain sight.
