Designed by legendary American yacht designer Bill Tripp, the Columbia 39 comes from an era when fiberglass sailboats were often built with an eye toward strength, offshore capability, and longevity. More than 50 years later, NAIAD is still here — rugged, substantial, and looking for her next caretaker.
She needs some TLC. We're not going to pretend otherwise.

But underneath the projects is a classic Tripp design that has also benefited from a long list of upgrades and improvements during her current ownership.
Since purchasing NAIAD in 2015, her owner has tackled everything from tanks, ground tackle and deck paint to sails, running rigging, fuel systems, exhaust, batteries and drivetrain components.
Notable work includes:
• New mainsail and stack pack
• New jib
• Rebuilt Harken roller furler
• 200' of G4 chain and Spade anchor
• Rebuilt manual anchor windlass
• New stainless steel prop shaft
• Rebuilt Max-Prop
• PYI PSS shaft seal
• New cutlass bearing and shaft coupling
• New fuel tank
• Rebuilt fuel injection pump
• Rebuilt starter and new solenoid
• New alternator
• New VHF, antenna and cable
• New propane solenoid, monitoring system and supply plumbing
• New stainless exhaust elbow and upgraded Vetus wet-exhaust system
• Two Group 31 Lifeline AGM house batteries plus starting battery
• New battery cables and isolation/parallel switching
• Composting head system
• New bottom paint for 2026
So no, she's not a shiny new production boat.
She's 55-year-old Bill Tripp-designed Columbia 39 with good bones, a lot of important work already behind her, some work still ahead of her — and a seller willing to entertain the best reasonable offer.
