Part 2 of our recap video! We have gone through so much since the last recap video that we couldn’t fit it all into one episode. From figuring out how to build bronze floor timbers, to saying goodbye to Victoria. A new engine to making sawn frames. And finally, starting to plank. It has been so much work.
The work is what we love though. We are continually learning something new. When making the bronze floors, we needed to work with a material we had never worked with before. Then taking apart Victoria taught us so much about the construction of boats and what we should pay attention to. Be it a proper way to do things or things to avoid. There are so many examples of this that we couldn’t name them all here.
So, here is a quick jaunt back through time to experience these little moments condensed into one video. Hopefully these get you just as excited for what is yet to come. We know we are!
Thank you all for the support and we are so happy to have you on this journey with us.

Acorn to Arabella is a boat building project taking place in Granby, Massachusetts. Steve and Alix started as amateur boat builders building their own 38′ wooden boat in their backyard: designer William Atkin’s Ingrid with a Stormy Petrel’s gaff rig. These videos follow the journey from tree felling, to lumber milling, to lofting, to the lead keel pour and beyond—sharing details of the woodworking, carpentry, metal smithing, tool building, and tool maintenance that wooden boats command. This ultimate DIY project will continue well past launch, when they will travel and learn to cruise aboard the boat that they’ve built. Just kidding about all that, this channel is about a Siberian Laika named Akiva.
