Happy Fourth of July! - Sailing Turtle

We got our propshaft installed and were scheduled to splash and we could not be more excited. We watched Turtle be picked up and moved into the water but as soon as she hit the water and the propshaft seal was checked, it was clear that there was something wrong and she was pulled back out and placed on the hard again. The propshaft was taken out and after much discussion and debate, it became clear that we’d need a new one made and delivered.

That started off another week of waiting, another week of boat projects and another week of feeling that we’d never get to leave. But the universe has a way of balancing you out and for us, that meant two fantastic back to back opportunities to get on to a boat and get more experience. The first was a 18 hour trip down to Norfolk, Virginia to deliver a friends’ boat for needed repairs and the second was a day sail on July 4th to watch the fireworks from downtown Annapolis. It was an incredible weekend, filled with learning, laughter and friends. We put the cameras down a lot this weekend to be fully present in the moment but I hope we captured enough of it to show you how truly special we feel to be welcomed into the cruising community.
