After sailing the Caribbean for a year, selling our boat, and trying “normal life” again… we realized something:
We’re not meant for normal.
So yeah… we’re doing it again.
But this time?
We’re sailing around the world. 🌎⛵️
This is Season 2, and before we drop Episode 1, we’re rewinding—showing you where we’ve been, what life looked like off the boat, and how we ended up right back here chasing freedom, adventure, and a life most people are too scared to go after.
In this episode, we’re sharing the real story: selling our sailboat in Grenada, trying to buy a Leopard 50, moving back to Idaho, living at our cabin for the winter, getting back into sports and school, building businesses, losing money, rebuilding, raising teenagers, and figuring out how to get our family back on the water.
We’re a family of 6 who sold everything to sail the Caribbean, came back to land, tried to settle down, and are now leaving again to sail around the world on our 2021 Leopard 50 catamaran, Banana Pancakes.
No perfect plan. No safety net. No pretending we have it all figured out.
Just a family chasing adventure, freedom, connection, and a life worth living.

This is the REAL & RAW reality of living on a sailboat off-grid! Episodes come out every Saturday! Steve & Kami had a dream to buy a sailboat and travel the world when we retired. We spent 15 years working multiple jobs, living BELOW our means, saving every penny we could and investing in real-estate. Well the year of Covid hit and we thought, what the hell let's freaking go, kids and all! The first thing Steve said when he walked onto our boat "It smells like freedom!" We completed our first year of sailing, sold our sailboat Banana Pancakes, in hopes of purchasing a newer one. We didn't find the right boat so we headed back to Idaho. It's been 2 years since then and we are once again ready to go, this time for at least 5 years. We are currently boat shopping and plan on setting sail soon for Seson 2 of Banana Pancakes.
