The Sihanoukville Train runs from Phnom Penh to Sihanoukville, on Cambodia's south coast, three times a week. It is pretty much a tourist train, and we were stunned when a single self powered carriage turned up to meet us at the Kampot station. It was a much better way to get between Kampot and Phnom Penh than the minivan, and we enjoyed the scenery, and that despite it departed Kampot late, it arrived in Phnom Penh on time.

Al, from New Zealand and Kel from Australia met through work in 2010 and have been together ever since. Always infected by the travel bug they finally decided to head off on an adventure and started with Vietnam and Laos before heading to Sri Lanka, India and then Cambodia. Their mission is to explore as many off the beaten track places as possible through a slow travel philosophy on a tight budget.
